What are the commonly used printing materials for outdoor printers?

Outdoor printers generally use eco-solvent inks, and the printing materials need to be able to well carry eco-solvent inks.

Commonly used printing materials for outdoor printers include vehicle wraps, light cloth photo paper, adhesive-back prints, PP paper, transparent adhesive prints, canvas, etc. For adhesive-back prints, vehicle wraps, and light film, eco-solvent adhesive, eco-solvent vehicle wraps, and eco-solvent light films should be used. The types of fabric printing materials include:

  1. Photo fabric. This is a traditional fabric that eliminates the over-lamination process, has low production costs, and decent waterproof properties. If printed with outdoor oil-based inks, it can exhibit stronger weather resistance, endure rain, snow, and sunlight, has good ink absorption, and the produced images have bright colors and good saturation.
  2. Canvas. Most commonly used for oil paintings, its surface is smooth and flat, making it especially suitable for large format printing and photo printing. Canvas can be categorized based on its substrates into different materials such as fiber, cotton, faux cotton, and faux linen.
  3. Banner fabric. Mainly used for indoor and outdoor banners, flags, drapes, and background images, it is one of the most in-demand materials in the advertising market. The material of banner fabric is soft and suitable for hanging, available in various colors. When printed with eco-solvent inks, it exhibits good waterproof properties and strong outdoor display capabilities. This fabric is inexpensive, lightweight, easy to carry and transport, and the post-processing techniques are simple, thus favored by clients.

4. Artistic fabric. A type of photo fabric that belongs to the matte water-based series, also known as fiber fabric. Artistic fabric has a strong drape, is soft to the touch, does not curl without pressure, and does not reflect under lighting conditions. It is compatible with water-based, oil-based, and eco-solvent/solvent-based printing inks, has strong color representation, high image resolution, and good waterproof properties. The artistic fabric made from non-woven materials absorbs ink quickly, and the colors printed on it are saturated and vivid, ensuring a long-lasting presence in complex outdoor environments.
